Brian passed away suddenly at home, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a space in our hearts that can never truly be filled.
To his wife, Donna. Brian was a soulmate, best friend and partner in every sense of the word. Their love story was the kind people hope for in life and losing him feels impossible to put into words.
He loved deeply and fiercely, especially when it came to his children, Randy (Adam) and Cristin (Leo) and to Cory (Hilary), who became part of the Currie family later in life. Family meant everything to Brian and some of the best moments of his life were the simple ones spent together laughing, telling stories and just being with the people he loved most, including his beloved grand-puppy Cornelius, who always held a very special place in his heart.
Brian also came from an incredibly large family, and family connections were something woven throughout his entire life. There was never a shortage of stories, personalities, laughter or chaos when it came to the people he called family.
Less than two years ago, Brian received a successful double lung transplant. This gave him an additional eighteen months that he will always be grateful for. That extra time meant more memories, more conversations, more laughter and more moments with the people he loved most. Which makes his sudden passing all the more heartbreaking. While no one will ever know exactly what happened, paramedics believe it was likely a catastrophic event, such as a massive heart attack, and that he passed quickly.
Brian lived a full life and will be remembered for his love, his strength, his sense of humour and the way he made people feel. He leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured forever by his family, friends and everyone lucky enough to know him.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. A memorial to celebrate his life will be planned at a later date. Flowers are always welcome and appreciated, but for those who wish to honour Brian through a donation, the family asks that contributions be made to the UHN Foundation or Happy’s Place Retirement Home for Dogs, two causes that held special meaning.
For now, we simply ask that you hold Brian close in your thoughts and remember him with a smile, a story and the same love he gave so freely to those around him.
