BRYAN LAVERNE WALLER D.D.S.
Bryan Laverne Waller, D.D.S., passed away peacefully at the Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket on March 21st, 2026 in his 80th year. Bryan was the eldest son of Dr. Charles ‘Laverne’ Waller, D.V.M. and Virginia (Sheppard) Waller. Bryan was predeceased by his sister Maureen (Rob) in 2024 and brother Derek (1981). Bryan is survived by his wife Lavinia ‘Ann’ (Roberts), sons Jeffrey (Emily) of Sackville, N.B.; Graham (Michele) of Sudbury; David (Samantha) of Sutton; grandchildren Charles and Adelaide of Sackville, Landen, Lauren and Madelyn of Sudbury, and Logan and Brooklyn of Sutton.
A life-long Sutton resident, Bryan grew up boating on the Black River on home-made rafts, boats and his Sea Flea “Mal de Mer.” Bryan often assisted his father at his Lake Simcoe Veterinary Clinic and managed the dog kennels there. As a child, Bryan was fascinated by the trains at the Sutton Train Station behind his home and often hiked back into the forested areas. Bryan excelled in piano and was awarded the Conservatory Silver Medal with a scholarship, as a pupil of Mrs.Tremayne.
Bryan attended Sutton Public and High Schools, excelling in academics and public speaking, then graduated from University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1970. Following graduation, Bryan joined the practice of Dr. Peter Apse on High Street in Sutton. The practice moved to the new location on Dalton Road where Dr. Waller practiced until his retirement in 2003. During his years of practice, Bryan’s commitment to excellence in dental care would not have been possible without his dedicated assistants, receptionists, and hygienists.
Bryan loved the outdoors; boating, waterskiing, sailing his catamaran, camping with family all over Ontario, canoeing with friends on trips to the French River, frequent trips to Florida with his family, and enjoying life at his Lake Simcoe home. Bryan passed on his love of the outdoors to his three sons, who enjoy outdoor activities with their own young families. Bryan particularly enjoyed many motorcycling years with friends. A converted school bus, “The Purple Pig”, would transport Bryan, friends, and motorcycles partway to their “launch point”. Destinations in the American West, the Canadian Rockies, and the Maritimes were toured by the friends. In the early years of marriage, Bryan and Ann often visited then-exotic countries in the Caribbean, South and Central America experiencing local culture.
The Waller family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket for their care of Bryan and support for his family.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering of Remembrance and Interment will take place at a later date.
In remembrance of Bryan, the Waller family requests that memorial donations be made to Margaret Bahen Hospice, 653 Queen Street, Newmarket, L3Y 2J1 (www.myhospice.ca)
