Catherine Lynn Morrell, affectionately known as Cathy, was born on January 4, 1967, in St. Thomas. She passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at Margaret Bahen Hospice after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Surrounded by her loving family and friends, she faced her illness with incredible strength and grace.
Cathy was a selfless, loving, and nurturing woman who took great pride in being a mom. Among her proudest accomplishments was raising her children and going back to school to become a funeral director. She worked as a Funeral Director at Forrest and Taylor Funeral Home, where she dedicated herself to helping others during difficult times.
Her life was filled with simple joys. Cathy loved to read and had a passion for traveling, especially enjoying trips to Cuba. Her kids remember her fondly for "mom's taxi," a testament to her unwavering support and care for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ken; her children, Luke (Emily), Tyler, and Beth (Michael); her parents, Dave and Doreen Payler; her brothers, David (Ruth-anne) and Stephen (Katie); and she was a beloved Mimi to Jonathan, Grayson, Skyler, and Kailee. She is also remembered by her nephews, nieces, extended family, and many friends who cherished her warmth and kindness.
Cathy was predeceased by her grandparents, Ed and Ruth Payler and Douglas and Lucille Campbell; and her in-laws, Lorne and Anna Morrell.
Those wishing to honour Cathy's memory are invited to attend a visitation followed by a memorial service on May 2, 2026, at the Salvation Army Georgina Community Church, located at 1816 Metro Road North, Georgina, Ontario. The visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 3:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Margaret Bahen Hospice, Stronach Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Luk and Dr. Mulhern for their care and support. Donations in Cathy's memory can be made to Margaret Bahen Hospice, Stronach Cancer Centre, or Georgina Salvation Army.
Cathy lived a life full of simple extravagance. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
