Chuck Zammit, a devoted barber whose career spanned over five remarkable decades, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at Southlake Health in Newmarket. Born on November 29, 1939, in Hamrun, Malta, Chuck's life was a testament to warmth, joy, and a genuine love for people.
Throughout his long and dedicated career, Chuck was known not just for his skill with scissors but for his welcoming spirit and happy-go-lucky nature that made every visit to his barber chair an experience filled with laughter and friendly conversation. His sociable character and infectious enthusiasm endeared him to many, making him an icon in his community.
Beyond his professional life, Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who found great pleasure in hunting and ice-fishing. He loved to party, embracing life with a vivacity that inspired those around him. His zest for life was matched only by his openness and kindness, traits that will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and neighbours alike. Chuck was a Life Member of Branch 356, Sutton Legion, participating fully in many Legion functions and made lasting friendships with many members.
Chuck leaves behind a loving family who were a pillar of support throughout his life. He is survived by his sisters Theresa (Ray), Mary (the late Charlie), Doris (Walter), and Joyce (Bill), and his brother Guy (the late Linda). Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Albert and Joseph, and by his beloved wives Lillian and Carol.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 356, located at 21 East Street in Georgina, Ontario. This gathering will provide an opportunity for all who knew him to honour Chuck’s rich legacy and to remember a man who truly lived life on his own joyful terms.
Chuck Zammit’s passing marks the end of a remarkable chapter, but his spirit endures in the hearts of those who knew his infectious smile and felt the warmth of his friendship. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his welcoming nature and his joyous approach to life.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brian and Liz Osbourne for all their support during the past year, the nurses on the Sixth Floor Medical Unit at Southlake for their kind care, and the Sutton Legion for for facilitating his Celebration of Life.
