Surrounded by family and love, Ellie Big Canoe began her spirit journey on Saturday May 18th. After many health struggles, she gave her family and all of her loved ones the beautiful gift of spending time with her and allowed us all to send her off in a good way.
She was the beloved mother of Jordan Big Canoe and Willow Big Canoe. Amazing Nokomis of Elexis, Glenn, Kaiden, Alora, Aubrey, and Waasaya. The best sister to Cynthia, Mike, Becky, Deanna, and Trish. The most kick ass aunt to too many nieces and nephews to name, all of her cousins, and all those she called family and held in her heart.
Ellie will be remembered with a smile and a chuckle by all those that were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. We love you, continue to rock on.
Ellie will be resting at the Chippewas of Georgina Island Community Centre, public wake will be 5:00-700pm Monday May 20th and the funeral service will be Tuesday May 21st at 2:00pm. All who loved this great woman are invited to join the family in celebration of her at Sandy Beach following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to info@zaagiwewin.ca a community initiative of the family’s choosing will be set up to honour Ellie.
Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice
