Elizabeth "Beth" Richardson


It is with sadness that the family of Beth Martin Richardson of Sutton, Ontario announced her passing on Sunday, November 25th 2018 at Southlake Village in her 90th year. She was born Elizabeth Jane Martin on January 24th 1929 to May (Tocher) and Bill Martin in Oshawa, Ont. At age 5, Beth's family moved from Oshawa to Sutton, Ontario where her father ran a local store. After graduating Sutton High School, Beth left her home town, moved to North Toronto and attended the University of Toronto where she received her dental nursing diploma in 1950. When the opportunity arose, Beth changed careers to become an air travel consultant for trans-Canada Airlines now Air Canada. Travelling the world for many years, she staying with the company for almost 30 years. While living in North Toronto, Beth met and married Gord Richardson in 1976. Upon retiring, the pair settled back in Sutton where Beth enjoyed gardening, volunteer work, her Bridge Club family and friends. Beth will be missed by her step-children David Richardson (Marsha), Gord Richardson Jr (Chris), Cathy Bolla (Joe) and Patricia Richardson- Clare. She was a special Nana to Taunya, Katie, Jessica, Jason, Allie, Sarah, Megan, Jillian and was well loved by her great-grandson Jaxson. Lovingly remembered by her niece Ann Carruthers (Ron), nephew Bob Doble (Theresa) and her great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Clair Doble (Agnes), husband Gordon Richardson and stepson Chuck Richardson. Beth will be remembered for her love of cats, dry wit, her straightforward manner and her ability to listen and keep a confidence. Beth is being cremated at Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home in Sutton West and a celebration of life to be announced in the spring of 2019. Memorial Condolences may be made at www.forrestandtaylor.com
