Obituary

It is with grieving hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth "Liz" "Lisa" Veszpremi (née Marczi) of Pefferlaw, Ontario, on April 25, 2026.

Elizabeth is lovingly remembered by her devoted brother, Rudi Marczi (Linda), and dearly remembered by her many nieces, nephews-both biological and step-and their families across Canada, Hungary, and the United States.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband, László Veszpremi; her parents, George Marczi and Elizabeth Marczi (née Lorincz); stepfather Joseph Osso; and brothers Joseph Marczi (wife Sue survives him), István Marczi (Roza), and György Marczi (Erzsébet).

Embracing her Hungarian heritage, at the age of 17, she followed her passion for theatre to Budapest, Hungary, where she met her late husband, László. Together, they shared a remarkable 64 years of marriage, built on love, devotion, and unwavering support. In 1956, they returned to Canada, where Elizabeth continued her acting career for a few years before going on to build a distinguished career at the CBC in Toronto, until her retirement.

A woman of many talents, among them being a gourmet cook, skilled pastry chef, gracious hostess, avid reader, and devoted gardener. Time spent at Elizabeth and László's home was always cherished.

When they welcomed family and friends to gather, their table was filled with savoury meals, and the rooms with laughter, storytelling, and lively conversation.

Elizabeth was known for her warmth, intelligence, and gracious presence. She loved her friends dearly and her family profoundly, enriching the lives of everyone she met and creating lasting friendships.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Irene for her devoted care of Elizabeth in earlier years; and to Linda and Elwin for their steadfast care during Elizabeth's final years; as well as to the staff of Cedarvale Retirement Lodge for their exceptional care.

The family kindly requests that, in place of flowers, donations be made to a local food bank in Elizabeth's memory.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Elizabeth's life at:
