Frederick "Fred" Albert Ryner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Newmarket, Ontario. Born on September 25, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, Fred lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Fred was deeply devoted to his family, leaving behind his loving wife Marilyn Ryner, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He is survived by his children Rod Ryner (Ellen), Lawrence Ryner (Bev), Carson Ryner (Evelyn), Barb Ryner (Ryan), and Jenn Ryner (Michael). Fred took great joy in his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather, surrounding himself with his thriving family, which includes an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his immediate family, Fred was predeceased by his son Perry Ryner (Lillian) and his brother Ronald Ryner (Norma), who has also passed away. Their memories continue to hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew them.
Fred's passions were varied and many, encompassing family gatherings, enjoying the Toronto Blue Jays, fishing, and sharing his vibrant personality as a member of his church choir. He possessed a profound appreciation for history and war stories, which he delighted in recounting. A great trivia player, Fred’s tales often became legends themselves, filled with his unique flair for storytelling. True to Fred’s character, a story was never truly complete until it had been shared multiple times, bringing smiles and laughter to those gathered around him.
In celebration of a life well-lived, a drop-in celebration of life is planned for September, where friends and family will come together to honor the legacy Fred has left behind. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted soul with a talent for connecting people through stories, a passion for life, and an unwavering love for his family.
Fred Ryner will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Fred's honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
