Obituary

Louise Marie Arnold, affectionately known as "Lois," passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, in Sutton, Ontario, just two days shy of her 85th birthday. Born Louise Marie on May 15, 1941, to Murray and Hazel Barron in Peterborough, Ontario. She lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and a deep commitment to her family and community.

Lois was a cherished school bus driver with Simcoe Coach Lines for more than two decades, a role through which she touched the lives of countless children, ensuring their daily journeys were safe and filled with care. Her work spoke volumes of her warm and nurturing soul, characteristics that defined her both professionally and personally.

A devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene, Lois found solace and purpose in her faith. It was this spiritual foundation that underpinned her gentle strength—the kind of strength that held everything together even when life’s challenges loomed. She was the caregiver, the fixer, the heart and soul of her family.

Throughout her life, she poured her love into her creative hobbies. Lois delighted in crocheting beautiful baby blankets, each stitch a testament to her tender affection. She lovingly crafted scrapbooks and whimsical cards, small tokens designed to bring joy, to say hello, to make those around her smile. These acts of kindness and artistry embodied her caring spirit.

Lois's legacy is carried forward by her loving husband of 66 years, Willard Arnold, whom she married in 1960. Together, they forged a partnership grounded in mutual respect and profound love. She was a devoted mother to James Arnold, Janet Namaizawa (Katsumi), Brenda Yurek (Paul), and June Arnold, nurturing her children with the same quiet strength that defined her own life.

Her heart burst with pride and warmth for her grandchildren—Stephanie, Vivian, Olivia, Erika, Evelyn and late grandson James—each of whom was a bright thread in the tapestry of her life. One of her final blessings was the birth of her great grandson, James Kristian, only days before she left us. Though their paths did not cross in this life, her love will live on through him forever.

Lois leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Her life was a testament to the power of quiet strength, the importance of faith, and the lasting impact of a caregiver’s heart. Her spirit will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know her and it will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. She is now reunited with her beloved grandson James whose memory she held close to her heart.

Friends and family are invited to honour Lois' life at Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26th; visitation from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, funeral service from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm. Following the service, Lois' ashes will be laid to rest at Briar Hill Cemetery in Sutton. Refreshments will be served at Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home after the burial.
