Micheal Steven Wicks, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born January 17, 1958, Mike touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and generosity. His loss leaves a profound void for his loving family and many friends.
A true “Jack of all Trades,” Mike was known for his skill as a mechanic and cement finisher, always striving for perfection. Beyond work, he had a rare gift for making everyone feel special and brought joy through laughter, backyard fires, and his legendary burgers. He loved the outdoors—boating, fishing, tubing with his kids, and ice fishing (often bragging about his impressive catches)—and was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, never missing a game.
Mike’s greatest pride was his family: his wife Cathy Legge; daughters Joanne McGruthers (Jason) and Sandra Wicks (Steve); and grandchildren Dylan, Keria, Macayla, and Jacob. He is also survived by his mother June Laird, sister Lori Wald, and many cherished relatives and friends. He joins loved ones who passed before him, including his father John (Jack) Wicks.
As we reflect on the life of this extraordinary man, we celebrate a legacy filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. The warmth of Mike's heart and the spark of his spirit will continue to weave through the lives of those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. His laughter, kindness, and wisdom will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding us of a truly remarkable soul.
