Robert Joseph Patrick Owen, known to friends and family as Bob or Bobby, was born on September 6, 1958, in Toronto, Ontario, and passed away on July 22, 2025, in Willow Beach, surrounded by his beloved family. His passing marks the loss of a devoted father, grandfather, and cherished friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bobby dedicated much of his life to a fulfilling career as a Work and Material Planner, spending many years at Bombardier Aerospace before retiring from De Havilland. A hardworking man who never shied away from a challenge, he was always willing to help or guide others, often doing more than asked without ever making anyone feel like a burden. Known for his good spirit, he was often heard singing at work, bringing a sense of joy and warmth to those around him.
Family was at the core of his life. He was the proud father of Adam, Brent, and Amanda, and a loving grandfather to Sophia, Aiden, and Isla. He shared a deep bond with each of his children. Bobby spent countless hours with Adam, encouraging his passion for baseball and cheering him on from the sidelines with unwavering support and pride. With Brent, he shared a love of golf, and the two enjoyed a memorable trip to South Carolina together. It was time spent not just on the course but strengthening the bond between father and son. His relationship with Amanda was equally special. He was her best friend and confidant, someone she could always turn to, and the two shared a closeness that words can hardly capture. Christmas was his favourite time of year. He loved the togetherness it brought and delighted in waking the house at dawn, banging cupboards in excitement to start the day’s festivities.
A sports enthusiast, Bobby played baseball competitively in his youth and later enjoyed bowling. Sunday games at West Park with his brothers and friends were a beloved tradition, always filled with laughter and friendly competition.
His sense of humour and warmth made him a magnet to others. He had a gift for making people feel at ease, and his quick wit, kindness, and playful banter will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Adam, Brent, and Amanda, who will carry his memory in their hearts and honour him in the lives they lead. He was predeceased by his loving mother Esther, father Leonard, sister Pat, and brothers Jim and Bill.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bobby’s life at Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home in Sutton, Ontario, on July 26, 2025. Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Together, we will honour the memory of a truly remarkable man whose spirit lives on in all of us.
