Peacefully at Humber River Hospital from a stroke and pneumonia.
Better known as Tom Browne, youngest son of the late William and Dora (Riddell) Browne of Georgina, Ontario. Predeceased by brothers Gary (April 2018), Bob (October 2018) and Ronnie (December 2022).
Survived by six nephews and three nieces and their respective partners and twenty grandnieces and grandnephews.
Born in then Sutton Hospital and raised in the farming community of then North Gwillimbury. Attended one-room Belhaven School through eight grades and Sutton District High School from September 1957 to November 19th 1961. Helped run a dairy farm with his father until 1971 when circumstances required the farm to be sold.
Next career involved taking a computer programming course with Control Data Institute on Consumers Road in Willowdale from late 1970 through Fall of 1971. Had his first job with AGT Data Systems on January 19, 1972. Started out in Operations and progressed through to various levels including technical support, systems support and customer support. Stayed in the same job for twenty-six and a half years, through many company mergers and finally at IBM’s door. Took early retirement in September 1998, coincidentally at Consumers Road.
In retirement, joined seniors groups at Edithvale Community Centre in North York for card games and bingo. Helped run some of the games.
Many friends were developed over the years and most importantly that of his best friend Dan whom he met in 1973 at AGT Data Systems. Dan and his wife Toni welcomed him into their home and circle of friends. Honorable mention to Len, first met in 1974.
The deceased has requested to be cremated and that there be no funeral service. Cremated remains to be interred at the grave site of his parents in Briar Hill Cemetery in Sutton. Arrangement with Forrest and Taylor Funeral Home in Sutton. Life comes full circle.
