Wayne Hoeg, 69 years, passed away tragically on New Year's Day 2010, with his beloved dog Bailey. Wayne was born and raised in Joggins, Nova Scotia. He moved to Ontario as a young man where he met and married his wife Susan, a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island. Wayne has been a significant part of the Georgina Island community and Georgina for over 50 years. Wayne also maintained a close connection with his hometown of Joggins, and visited family and friends there frequently. These communities will remember him for his sense of humour and great generosity. Wayne was known as a skilled and talented tradesman. He started working young as a coal miner in his hometown, then at Amerace Ltd. in Markham for seventeen years. He worked at South Shore Plumbing and Heating in Sutton and at one time he owned and operated the Georgina Island ferry. His skills as an electrician, equipment operator, plumber, water plant operator, cook, snow plow driver, and under water salvage work was shared freely and appreciated by everyone. Wayne leaves behind his wife, Susan; his daughters, Lauri Williamson (Scott) and Shannon Crate (Terry); son Jesse; grandchildren, Shannah, Hayley and Dallas Williamson, and Meadow and Mia Crate. He is survived by his mother Ruby Brown and sisters, Dolores Good, Heather Stasila, Donna Husovic (Bob), Gloria Hoeg, and Sherry Holditch. Also remembered by Mother in law, Mary Bradley and her son Mark Bradley (Giselle); and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Pre-deceased by his father Alfred Hoeg. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 in Knox United Church, 34 Market Street, Sutton at 4:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Wayne's life in the Sutton Kin Hall. In remembrance of Wayne and his love of dogs, memorial donations to the OSPCA, 16586 Woodbine Ave., R.R. #3, Newmarket, ON L3Y 4W1 or the Georgina Island Native United Church, P.O.
