William Douglas Lavis

May 22, 1953 — June 28, 2023

Lavis, William Douglas

Passed away peacefully after a fierce battle with pancreatic cancer at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket, on Wednesday June 28, 2023 at the age of 70 years. Douglas Lavis of Keswick, son of the late Lawrence and Shirley (Proulx). Predeceased by his brothers Ken and Donny and great nephew Kyle. Our hearts go out to his surviving brothers Wayne and Jim and sister Lynne (Paul) Warren. Doug was a lot of fun and will be incredibly missed by his nephews Wayne jr., John (Anne), Kevin, Patch, Darren and Allen (Stephanie) and nieces Debbie, Taya and Lisa (Derek). Doug was born in Newmarket, and attended Maple Leaf Elementary School, Huron Heights High School and Centennial College where he earned his welding certification. Doug's employment included I.B.M Canada, Massey Ferguson, Magna and Miller Group in Markham. He had enormous love for his family and friends and left a lasting impression on the heart of everyone he would meet. Doug will be fondly remembered by all, especially of him riding the fastest self-made gas powered bicycle ever. We would like to personally thank Nurse Practitioner Karen McMahon and the employees and volunteers at the Margaret Bahen Hospice for their outstanding compassion and care. A Celebration of Doug's life will be held at his grave in Newmarket Public Cemetery, 112 Main Street North, Newmarket on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Keswick Presbyterian Church food box would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements in care of the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, Sutton. Memorial condolences may be made at www.forrestandtaylor.com

Remember Me

Don't remember me with sadness,

Don't remember me with tears,

Remember all the laughter,

We've shared throughout the years.

Now I am contented

That My life it was worthwhile,

Knowing that I passed along the way

I made somebody smile.

When you are walking down the street

And you've got me on your mind,

I'm walking in your footsteps

Only half a step behind.

So please don't be unhappy

Just because I'm out of sight,

Remember that I'm with you

Each morning, noon and night.
