 The artist has left the gallery. Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the age of 91 years. Bill Holcroft, beloved husband of Aileen Hunt and the late Sheila. Dear father of Jim and John (Nancy) and step father of Glenda (Bruce Dunning), Maureen (Peter Oulton), Sylvia (Chris Teasdale) and Glenn Hunt (Christine). Loving Grandfather of Fiona and Grandfather to twelve others. Dear brother of Diane. Fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends, especially those of the Briars Golf Course. Bill’s life passion was that of an artist. He lived a life of devotion, creativity and practicality. His family was his top priority although his art came a very close second. He designed and built houses, cottages and interior design, and his countless works of art involved many media including both painting and sculpture. His proudest legacy was not his works but his granddaughter. 

  He touched everyone who knew him with his devotion, his unique insights and the creative mind of a genius. He will be sorely missed but our many happy memories and his profound influence give us the power to endure. He leaves us happily with no regrets, to the tune of 'Starry Starry Night' and the words of the poet, Robert Frost. Bill indeed took the road less travelled, in life, and beyond.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the spring/summer of 2024. Arrangements in care of the Forrest & Taylor Funeral Home, Sutton.
